Southwest Metal Finishing

Quality Control

Quality comes first

Our commitment to quality is integrated into every aspect of our business. We align our processes with customer goals and strive to make the most effective use of people, equipment, methods and materials. Our factory operates in the lean manufacturing mode and we welcome daily deliveries in kanban quantities.

We utilize testing procedures and process controls that are among the most sophisticated in the industry. Our plating process is supported by a team of engineers and technicians certified by the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society (AESF). We also have a complete in-house laboratory that ensures we comply with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools through the use of:
  • ISO/QS 9001:2008
  • FMEA
  • statistical process control of key process parameters
  • inspection at key points in the process
  • capability studies
  • raw material, casting and polishing audits to ensure a sound casting process without voids or holes
  • state-of-the-art, in-house chemical analysis
  • full CMM layout capabilities
  • on-site performance and qualifications testing of coatings
  • plating thickness verification
  • adhesion testing to ASTM standards
  • adhesion testing to ISO standards
  • corrosion testing to ASTM standards
  • corrosion testing to ISO standards

A critical piece of equipment for polishing our stops went down last week without any warning. Without Southwest's quick response and ability to pull together a solution, Sloan would not have been able to ship to our customers for several days. The assistance you provided is greatly appreciated. Companies like yours that exhibit this behavior to support customers are in a class of their own.
